THE HILL-SIDE: FABRICS MAKES IT PERFECT
The history of a brand that became famous due to the customers passion for ties made of exotic and sound material
Everyone who's got his favorite clothes that he worn into holes knows how important the tactile sense is. The favorite clothes don’t just look good - it's also a pleasure to touch and wear it. Either way it's due to the fabric the clothes is made of. That's what inspired Emil Corsillo to launch the Hill-Side together with his brother Sandy.
Way back in college Emil was obsessed with different fashion-magazines, Japanese brands of working wear and denim after he had met a Japanese guy Hisashi Oguchi. After a while, when Sandy was elaborating the Hickoree's multibrand store, together with Emil they decided that there should be some clothes designed by themselves: that's how the Hill-Side was initiated. The acquaintance with Hisashi who's now their committed partner helped them to cooperate with Japanese factories to get fabrics that nobody had beyond Japan at that time.
Initially they planned to create just one design of a square end tie with selvage treated on both sides. It should have broken the brands monotony in the store so to speak. Soon they started to pay most of their attention to the Hill-Side since it became super popular and even left the Hickoree's behind.
It is fascinating that Emil and Sandy didn't consider the tie design as a starter for something bigger so they didn't expect that. Out of his passion for fabrics of different types and patterns Emil learned how to sew. Having realized that the roll width was practically similar to the width of 60s Rosters ties that he got from his father, Emil decided to take advantage of it. So that's how he designed his first tie. He went out to the bar wearing that tie some times and he was paid a lot of compliments to. That was when he knew for sure what he would test his fabrics on. There was the new period start when not only office workers but also men of any occupation began wearing a tie and the Hill-Side was in the limelight. Everybody knew where they could get special ties made of exotic fabric.
KEEP IT UP
Nowadays all the above mentioned things can be referred not only to the ties: the Hill-Side provides any kind of clothes and is able to dress a man from the bottom to the top. Shirts, jackets, sneakers, scarves - the new types of clothes have nothing to do with the change of approach so every clothes stands out with the exotic fabric it's made of. They try to make reasonable and practical silhouettes drawing the inspiration from the Japanese working wear the idea of which was initially taken from Americans. In 2015 they received a GQ award as the best men's style brand and was given an opportunity to collaborate with the world famous GAP.
Here at our store you can check out the products of Japanese fabric and American manufacturing combination.
