The debut collaboration of two important brands, seeking to turn our ideas about high fashion and sport

«The experience I had buying and wearing PUMA footwear actually helped me design my own products»
Leading sports brand PUMA and the avant-garde Dutch brand Filling Pieces are launching the collaboration based on the updated Blaze of Glory model. This release is about Puma’s fast turn to high fashion. Let us tell about it in details.
The brand named Filling Pieces was funded by an architect Guillaume Philibert in 2009. During his practicing Guillaume noticed that modern sneakers are made without a strong knowledge of design. It gave an impetus to the Low Top’s model designing. Guillaume’s friends immediately loved it and later retailers saw an unusual Falling Pieces’ approach. The best way to describe brand’s philosophy is to quote Guillaume’s words from the interview for Sneaker Freaker: “I have always had the vision on bridging this big gap in the market between higher end and street and athletic footwear”. Such thinking inspired PUMA to the joint work which can’t stay in the background.
Blaze of Glory
Guillaume Philibert is right when saying that footwear brands collaborate rarely: “PUMA is a very big company, where we as Filling Pieces are small and unique”. The collaboration was based on the Blaze of Glory silhouette which the founder liked. This year silhouette is completely deconstructed and crafted from fine quality leather with nubuck overlays and the elastic strap across the toe. The design is completed with an emphasized tongue with lasered and perforated detailing referring to the Low Top model which brought a success to the Dutch brand. The collaboration’s colorway is Matte Black combined with white sole. The sneakers’ sole in its turn is comfortable and made with Trinomic technology.
