Nike Cortez "Day of the Dead"
Interpretation of the mystical holiday of Central America in the new release from Nike: Cortez "Day of the Dead".
The end of October and the beginning of November are an important time interval for the residents of North and Central America. As we know, two holidays are celebrated: the English speaking America has Halloween, which goes back to the ancient Celtic traditions of Ireland and Scotland; when the Spanish speaking America has the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). Nike joins these mystical customs, releasing Nike Cortez Dia de los Muertos, dedicated to this infernal festival.
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
Dia de los Muertos is a great day for those who live in: Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. According to ancient Mayan and Aztec beliefs, the souls of the dead visit their own homes right between November 1 and 2. On the Day of the Dead locals get together to honor the memory of their beloved and dear ones, and the celebration takes place in all big and small cities and villages, varying only by the scale of the happening, particularity of ritual costumes and amount of the eaten treats. Making this day a real holiday is a true goal for each Mexican family. Preparing for the holiday takes whole weeks, during which all relatives gather together and create altars, decorate their houses, cook favorite dishes and sweets and make special necklaces with bright sham skulls. In 2003 the uniqueness of this holiday was marked by UNESCO, giving it a special status. Now’s the time for Nike to pop in this celebrating!
Undoubtedly, Nike managed to create a wonderful model, which has a big story behind itself. But what can we say about the sneakers? Of course, it’s an example of shoes of the highest quality from the American brand, made of genuine suede with nylon inserts and added by rubber sole with herringbone protector and amortizing layer. The traditional «swoosh» is made in a bright color, contrasting with the upper part of the shoe. But the main detail is the original wear-proof print, dedicated to all the attributes of this holiday.
