Loake: the shoes of Royal Majesty
The story about a brand of brothers Loake that makes traditional English shoes for longer than anyone can remember
The brothers John, Thomas and William Loake established the company Loake in 1880. In this very year the brothers opened the first factory of the firm which is considered to be a top shoemaking company for 135 years. Nowadays company management is proud of a heritage follows the traditions which were originated by the founders.
A process of making shoes with welted construction called Goodyear Welt is a difficult one. It existed for more than 300 years but an efficient use of it made Loake world-famous. The production of each pair takes nearly 8 weeks and Loake’s specialists consider it to be the best one.
Interestingly, throughout the history of Loake the company is associated not only with the British army because of the production for soldiers of three shoe models (Terrain boots, Convalescent boots and Despatch Riders boots) but also with army of our country: since 1914 to 1917guards army of the emperor of Russia Nicholas II was given Cossack boots.
Of course, the sands are running out, so the brand Loake extended its production range making shoes not only with use of Goodyear Welt process. Customer can appreciate high quality of shoes and a wide choice of models with certainty that Loake’s products are worth to buy.
In 2007 Loake caught the British Royal Family’s interest being granted a Royal Warrant – the most prestigious award for production. It is given to the brands supplying the good to a royal court and such royal personage as Her Majesty the Queen, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh (the husband of Queen Elizabeth II) and His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales.
According to the specialists the brand Loake during the whole its history produced more than 50 million pairs of shoes. Brandshop is proud to be the part of its history. Our joint work with the legendary British shoemaker saw the light in early 2015. The results of this collaboration were two models from the capsule collection Loake x Brandshop consisting of two classic men brogue models – shoes and boots. It is fascinating that each pair was produced as exclusive for Brandshop at an old factory in native Kettering. Check out a wide range of Loake at our store.
