Highsnobiety: one step ahead
Exclusive content and innovative approach – the main principles of the most visited source of inspiration for street fashion, art and lifestyle
David Fischer and Jeff Carvalho started working on the Highsnobiety project on the new wave of Internet in 2005. Since the very beginning the bloggers told about street fashion and sneakers culture trying to hear the audience with their interests but not just dropping the info in the bottomless pitch with no response. Being the first was also important: they tried to inform about new releases and collaborations of the streetwear brands as soon as possible. Initially, they turned attention to a rich mix of sneakers winning minds of fashion-conscious people. This conception worked. In short time the blog became a trusted voice in the street fashion and culture world.
Content at first
Today Highsnobiety is still on the top for those who want to catch up with trends, brands and news from the world of music and modern art. Web portal is included in the independent Titel Media founded by David Fischer. Besides Highsnobiety it also includes a popular men’s fashion blog Selectism and other sources touching upon this issue. The publication has a big staff full of fashion editors, photographers and journalists. During 11 years of work Highsnobiety got along with designers, CEOs of streetwear brands, famous musicians, photographers, artists and exhibitions’ curators providing reliable firsthand information. David Fischer explained the publication’s success as the whole team quickly reacts on current events and always seeks for a new exclusive content. Such involvement keeps the pubic: valuable information in response to their interests.
On the paper
Highsnobiety paper version is worth mentioning either. The first issue dedicated to the trade-show 2010 in Berlin was published just for fun. 80 pages where you can find interview, photoshoots, articles about artists and musicians from Berlin also served as a fashion stores guide. Editors and readers liked the idea and they released the issue twice a year when each of them touches upon a specific topic. Selected content is significantly bigger: curious interviews, notes and photo-essays. It’s more like a book than a magazine which pages illustrate the moments of street culture and art life.
