Converse × Futura Chuck Taylor All Star II
The first collaboration of the iconic American brand and a Brooklyn-based graffiti artist, who changed the world of street art
Sneakers and street art
The iconic Converse brand continues its active work on promoting the Chuck Taylor All Star II model. This time the American company introduces the first joint work with the Brooklyn-based graffiti artist Futura. The collaboration is based upon the revolutionary model, combining comfort and quality. The materials used perfectly add to the unconventional view of the artist on modern art.
Futura and his influence
Who’s that Futura and why his works were the ones to attract attention of the American Converse brand? Lenny McGurr is a true pioneer of street art, who began his way in distant 70’s with drawings in the NYC subway. Many contemporary art figures, such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and even Andy Warhol, boldly believe that Futura has determined his time, becoming the first street artist, referring to abstract and constructivist motifs. Futura left his mark not only in graffiti, but also design, creating clothing and many other art spheres. As for today, Futura has become an absolute legend with his own exposition at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont, as well as figuring on covers of the prestigious Highsnobiety magazine.
