Commitment to excellence: Caran d’ache + Paul Smith
Limited collection of colorful pens created by Sir Paul Smith and centennial Swiss brand Caran d'Ache
Caran d'Ache Anniversary
Switzerland is the country where sound conservatism and centuries-old traditions rise above any momentary trends. For this reason, Caran d’Ache brand was building up reputation not for years, but decades, and has worked its way from antique stationery shops up to collaborations with the greatest designers of the age. First released in 1969, the iconic Caran d’Ache 849 pen has now become one of the most renowned products. Its unusual hexagonal form has won a lot of prestigious design awards. This year the Swiss brand has decided to renew the color range of the pens taking to the large coloristic experience of Sir Paul Smith.
Sir Paul Smith's Choice
As Paul Smith stated himself, he has used Caran d’Ache 849 pens all throughout his career that eventually determined his desire to take part in this extraordinary collaboration. In his latest collection, Sir Paul Smith has delivered 30 colors that were steadily mixed with 70 basic colors used by Caran d’Ache for its products. The rest was a mere formality. The British designer picked over ten elegant pastel shades that he liked most, and the Swiss brand turned the idea into reality. Every Caran d’Ache x Paul Smith pen comes along in an unusual ultrafine metal case, altogether being a fancy present for yourself or a good friend.
