adidas Originals Munchen Spezial
Olympic heritage, German practicality and a truly iconic status in a stunning release: adidas Originals Munchen Spezial.
The adidas Originals model ‘Munchen’ was first introduced in 1972 and got its name thanks to the great event of that era - the Olympic Games in Munich; when the trainers’ appearance was created by the Olympics designers - Otl Aicher and Eberhard Strauss. Initially, the Munchen model was released for warm-up sessions of athletes, and later on, in 1976, it was presented to the wider audience.
It was the 70s and 80s that brought the ‘Munchen’ model the cult status amongst the citizens of Western Europe and Asia. There is a surprising fact that these trainers kept appearing on the feet of athletes thanks to the comfort, durability and lightness, as well as on feet of trendies - thanks to the simplicity of the silhouette and versatility. Moreover, this particular adidas Originals model is still probably the most popular amongst sports fans, especially football fans, uniting the hearts of people from different countries and cultures.
The modern version from the archive collection brings us back to the roots. The trainers are made in blue and yellow colors, as if mixing the deep color of the Speicher lake with the gold of the Olympic medal. Other details also remained unchanged: genuine suede, inner sole and leather patch with the ‘SPEZIAL’ logo on the tongue and the translucent honey-colored rubber outsole.
